Somewhere so far away

Is another world within our reach

Full of promise for a brighter day

As the sun shines down on a beach

Leaving us breathless from its sight

A purple sky paints a picture during sunset

Its unique postcard a beacon of light

Full of promise that we can get

Leaving hope for all behind

Leaving hope to fulfill one of a kind

It can be if we reach out

And want it bad enough

Having peace over doubt

Erasing all the tough stuff

That hurts us everyday

Leaving us empty without emotion

Crying inside for what happened yesterday

When all we need is a peaceful ocean

Leaving hope in a better place

Leaving hope to put a smile back on our face

It isn’t too hard to envision

If you just try

Instead of negative division

All we have to do is fly

Make an escape to a happier life

Where the darkness is finally gone

Making peace with all the strife

Enjoy each day and sing a song

All I see is darkness all around

As the warm Spring day becomes night

I can feel something like an echo in the distance

As a cooler evening allows for a calm wind

It can take you to the edge

A place you’ve never been before

As the ocean waves wash upon the shore

Playing like a drum beat as the riptide touches sand

It gives me a feeling I’ve never experienced

As if its message is to say everything’s okay

This too shall come and pass

Think of what tomorrow will bring instead

Don’t lose your head

While rolling over in your bed

On another sleepless night, you feel dead

I promise there’s a light ahead

What once was there

Is nowhere near

I once was complete

Instead of in full retreat

Day by day, it gets harder

Hour to hour, it feels much farther

Minute to minute passes by

As I search for answers wondering why

It’s tearing my heart apart

The broken pieces need a new start

As I look in the mirror, the picture becomes clearer

I can see what I’ve become as the answers draw nearer

It isn’t what I projected myself to be

I no longer want to feel dead in stale misery

It’s been a while

Since I knew right from wrong

I know there’s more to do

To explore and stay true
