It’s been a while
Since I really felt alive
It’s been a while
Since I held my head up high

Since I didn’t struggle
It’s been a while
Since I wasn’t in a bubble
It’s been a while
Since I experienced life
It’s been a while
Since I saw the sunrise
It’s been a while
When things were simpler
It’s been a while
That I truly lived
What once was there
Is nowhere near
I once was complete
Instead of in full retreat
Day by day, it gets harder
Hour to hour, it feels much farther
Minute to minute passes by
As I search for answers wondering why
It’s tearing my heart apart
The broken pieces need a new start
As I look in the mirror, the picture becomes clearer
I can see what I’ve become as the answers draw nearer
It isn’t what I projected myself to be
I no longer want to feel dead in stale misery
It’s been a while
Since I knew right from wrong
It’s been a while
Since I happily sang a song
I know there’s more to do
To explore and stay true
Escaping the tunnel isn’t easy
Finding light is what drives me
