I stumbled upon something sweet

That looked as tasty as an ice cream treat

It came in all different flavors

A delicious variety of lifesavers

One scoop was just enough

It served as a fresh reminder of the right stuff

Vanilla could be so smooth

The soft taste can get you in a groove

Chocolate has lots of appeal

Giving off a feeling that’s so real

Strawberry looks really good

It can put you in a better mood

Mint chocolate tastes divine

The cool combo puts you on cloud nine

It’s that beauty who makes you smile

You hope that feeling lasts for a while

A Couple Come to Mind

What was the best compliment you’ve received?

When I think about the question, it’s one that’s easy to answer. Since I’m a very nice and respectful person, I have had my share of compliments.

I’ve been told I’m the nicest person. That wasn’t too long ago. It happened while I was waiting for a prescription. The fact that the pharmacy technician said that made me feel good. She definitely is nice. I think it stems from how I handled a mishap last summer. I laughed at it because of the irony.

I’ve also been told that I’m sweet. That was said by a woman I like. We’re friendly at her place of work. She likes my poems. I once gave her a card last summer  expressing how much she helped me earlier last year. Sometimes, a positive outlook can go a long way. I definitely changed for the better. I feel similarly about her. She’s got a big heart. I’m lucky to know her.

I’ve also been told that I’m the best. That would be from one of my closest friends. It really means a lot. We’re tight like brothers. The irony is that he’s my brother’s best friend. The great thing is that he’s one of the kindest and coolest people I know. A true shining star.

In every example, I have learned a lot about myself. It pays to be nice. Treat others the way you want to be treated. It works.

I wonder what you’d be like on a walk

You always seem very together

You’re as soft and sweet as a feather

It’s your cool way of handling stuff

That makes you more than good enough

You read my poems with an interest

And give me feedback with your usual zest

I like how thoughtful you are

That’s why I picture you on top of the bar

I knew where you went last week

That’s because I know you well when we speak

I’m always happy when you tell me you had fun

You deserve it because you’re a special one

I want you to know what I think of you

When I told you I wrote something for you, you acted cool

It must be nice to be appreciated

Given what you do, you deserve to be well treated

You’re truly authentic in every way

It’s in what you say that’s clear as day

There’s plenty of depth to your character

I’m sure you create lots of laughter

I wrote something personal that you weren’t supposed to see

By accident, you read it and smiled with glee

You told me that you thought it was sweet

It’s the same thing you said once before, which was kinda neat

I wonder if you knew who it was about

I don’t know if some of the words helped you figure it out

For whatever it’s worth, you are quite cool

You play things off so well because you rule

We talk about so many things when you’re around

You never seem to mind cause you’re down

I tell you plenty about what’s on my mind

I’m interested in you since you’re quite the find

It would be easy to come with the truth

The last thing I want is to come off aloof

I don’t want things to change between us

I like what we have minus the fuss

You might be too good for someone like me

Though I can show you a different world you’d like to see

We’re probably too different to be more than friends

If that’s the case, you’ll always have my support to the very end

I like how you always match colors

Your sense of style is unlike most others

That’s one thing I’ll always notice about you

It makes you unique, fashionable, and true

I feel like you know me quite well

That’s why we click, it’s easy to tell

I got back from work, and now I yawn

It’s not because I’m overly tired or feel wrong

It’s out of boredom of seeking a new dawn

I’m an honest sort who’s happiest when I’m out

Doing things is what I’m all about

Nights can drag on when there’s little to do

Which brings me to the matter of you

I can’t shake the feeling that I have inside

It’s like a highstakes card game, and I want to let it all ride

I’ve replayed things you’ve told me before

That has me curious, wanting to know more

What am I in your world of sunshine

Do you consider me when I see you sometime

You smile and respond very well

Maybe you like how I am, which rings a bell

I don’t know everything there is to know

Regardless, I like you and decided to let it all flow

You’re an intriguing person who registers in my mind

It’s the way you are that makes you one of a kind

I realize you might not see me the same way

Even if that’s true, that’s perfectly okay

You’re a modern woman with so much love

I see it in how much you care when you rise above

You’re a gem mint in every way possible

Who’s young, fun, and very responsible

The qualities you possess explain why I care

It doesn’t matter if it’s just friends when you’re there

The way you showed support really improved my mood

Eventually, I got back on my feet and did good

Considering the progress

I shouldn’t act like a peasant

Especially when you’re crazy about the girl at the store

Then, you realize that’s not enough

You see things differently than before

The sky cleared up to make you realize

All it took was one person to open the door

Now, your eyes light up and visualize

It takes you back to another time

To a place where you were young, wild, and free

It’s a good sign that you’re of sound mind

A more positive outlook made you see an odyssey

It’s all within reach to touch

Just keep going until you arrive

Once you get there, come up clutch
