Since I’ve known you

You’ve always been true

It’s hard to believe I know you so long

Flash back to school and chill to a good song

You’ve always been one of the best

A shining star way above the rest

Our friendship has held up through time

It’s as special as the warm sunshine

I recall days when we were young, wild, and free

Those memories are forever in good harmony

We’d have fun and crack each other up

Way back when we did shots in a cup

There were classic moments we shared during those times

While cranking it up and busting out a few rhymes

Always raising the roof to the extreme

Damn right, we were down with the king

Friends are forever

That much I know

You’re the best in the show

Even the distance can’t keep us apart

You’ll always have a special place in my heart

True brothers in every sense of the word

While vibing to dope beats that we heard

A cool person with a truly unique quality

To match a kick ass personality

You’ll always be truly authentic

A bright light that’s charismatic

One of the illest brothers around

Who’s had my back when things go down

I can still see us chilling like villains

Two local kids willing and thrilling like Bob Dylan

There aren’t enough words to describe what I feel

When it comes down to it, you’re the real deal

You’ll always be my best friend

Are you for real

Or an illusion

Do you know how I feel

Or is it just confusion

You have an aura that’s easy to admire

That reminds me of a golden star

A kindhearted soul full of fire and desire

Whose intentions are to go far

It has me thinking

Like Tinkerbell sprinkling fairy dust

The special effects have me blinking

Am I ready to believe and trust

The mind plays head games

While the heart remains pure

Will life change or still be the same

You could be a legendary folklore

Is it just fantasy or reality

I close my eyes

And daydream of the possibility

Now, I study the fluorescent sky and visualize

The sunset gives way

Into another cool night

That makes me appreciate the day

As I admire the starlight

The scenery is full of wonder

Creating another dimension beyond comprehension

Are we truly here or down under

The universe grabs our attention

Which brings me back to you

Are you a great one like I read

My first impression is that you’re authentic and true

Maybe you’re really all I need

Eerie Silence

You wake up suddenly to the rain

It hasn’t fully registered in your brain

You’re as foggy as the gray clouds outside

And all you can do is go underneath the covers and hide

Maybe you’re not ready for the day to start

You were in and out of dreams that made you smart

It’s no wonder that you feel in a daze

Is this real or imagined like being stuck in a maze

There’s nowhere to go except up and down

You can’t wrap your finger around this quiet town

It feels different than most days

It makes you think that maybe you should blaze

You don’t have an answer for what you hear

You only know that it’s changed into another year

Are you in a time machine back in 1985

That Doc and Marty traveled in to feel alive

It just isn’t what you’re used to on this dreary day

When it’s been a hot summer, at least until today

It might explain why you’re slow to react

You can’t tell if it’s real or fake, which is a fact

There’s only a pause due to confusion

You try to block out the noise pollution

The difference is that it’s all in your head

Maybe that’s why you want to stay in bed

An eerie silence can play on your mind

It can cause chaos and alter the time

Normally, you’re calm and kind

We all have dreams
That we picture over the stars
Turning us into kings and queens
Driving through the air in futuristic cars

Into a galaxy far beyond
That captivates us into a flashy daze
Like the sun magnifying a pond
Flying faster than a legendary Mays

We track things we don’t often see
Then, catch a glimpse of intrigue and mystery
Creating an illusion that becomes a fantasy
Something that’s a great escape from reality

It’s the subconscious state that runs parallel
As our minds journey into a unique place
There we are at the bottom of a wishing well
It’s everything we’ve ever dreamed, like outer space

These are what dreams are made of every night
As we admire the full moon overlooking our world
It’s an electrifying light that makes it out of sight
Or something fancier like golden diamonds and pearls

It’ll make your eyes blink in admiration
Is this the real thing, or a beautiful odyssey
How we all have wandered into a dreamy vacation
That’ll always make us wonder about making real the fantasy

The hourglass melted away

The sand slipping

Like Dorothy in Oz

Minutes and seconds moving fast

As time stood still

For an insomniac

In and out of daydreams

Restless as can be but never free

Living a lonely existence

That repeated over and over

Like the groundhog seeing their shadow

With no escape in sight

Only sleepless in time

Of a parallel world

Unsure of what’s real and imagined

Looking for an end to the madness

Light a candle

And say goodnight

As the burning of the wicker

Fades into the late night

We close our eyes

Relax and picture a better day

With dreams of the element of surprise

That’s coming our way

The melting wax

Tells a story

Like a classic musician playing the sax

Finally returning to glory

Of distant memories

From a different era

Giving us a chill that sends us to our knees

In a period where things were clearer

Light a candle

For all the times shared

Watch it flicker

Reminding of those days we cared

Passing a torch from another time

That catches our eyes

The glimmer of light is our sign

Of rebirth to a new rise

We finally are awake

After being stuck in darkness

Everything is real and nothing is fake

There’s a unique starkness

Something to be learned

We can rediscover ourselves

It’s never too late to be earned

And live freely in good health
